Sam is the National Education Specialist for AMSL Diabetes. In this role she trains new staff and assists in the development of diabetes material for use by the team and the health care professionals they work with. She is also currently Acting State Sales Manager for her team in Victoria and Tasmania. Lastly, Sam has a small private practice as a dietitian, her first love. And not surprisingly she has a special interest in working with clients who have diabetes!
What did Samantha say after attending Michelle's Persuasive Presentation Skills Masterclass?
“Insightful, engaging and life changing! Practical and useful advice. An incredible program.”
What kind of presenting do you do at work?
I present in a number of different situations. I present to individual colleagues and to our State or National team for product and sales training.
I also present to small and large groups of health care professionals and customers, and at industry conferences.
I genuinely love presenting, sharing key messages, the stories and the benefits that underpin the incredible and life-changing products I have the privilege of working with, and wearing myself!
What prompted you to study with Michelle?
My manager had completed the masterclass and recommended I attend too. I jumped at the opportunity, knowing it would advance my skills in presenting! It was undoubtedly the best course I’ve ever attended, and have since recommended it to a number of people, including my brother, who also recently completed the masterclass with staff from Collective Wellness Group.
How did Michelle’s teaching change your attitude to presenting in business?
The masterclass has completely changed the way I prepare and approach presentations.
– I no longer dread (and procrastinate) writing a presentation. I have a quick, fool-proof method for developing the content.
– I am better prepared for the presentation and the questions I’m likely to be asked.
– I think about every aspect of the presentation – from the environment, to the visual aids and the materials I provide.
– Collectively, this results in messages that landed clearly, successfully, and with impact.
In general, what positive outcomes have you achieved from improving your presentation skills?
The benefit of attending the masterclass was not just improving my presentation skills, it was improving my ability to be persuasive. Michelle gave me the methodology to motivate and reduce potential objections. I use these skills every day in all my work-related roles, even as a wife and a mum! (The best bit is my husband doesn’t even know I’m doing it!)
In what specific ways have your presentation skills improved since learning with Michelle?
I’m actually a much better salesperson and manager as a result. Coming from a clinical background, I used to present as a means of educating, without much thought to what the listener might actually be hearing. Now I’m more focussed and goal-orientated, and I’m able to squash objections cleverly and quickly. Consequently, I’m more effective. I’ve also been able to train my team to be better prepared for their sales calls and presentations. My only wish is I’d completed the course earlier!
What were your top three take aways from Michelle’s teachings?
There’s far more than 3, but here’s a taster…
- Spend time at the start defining the messages you want the audience to believe at the end.
- Never say ‘but’, ‘however’, ‘thankyou’ or leave your contact details as a lasting impression!
- And remember it’s about them, not about you!
- Practice, practice, practice!
