Dr Meegan Brown is a lecturer and Study Area Co-ordinator of the Master of Education School Guidance and Counselling at the Queensland University of Technology.
Meegan has specialised for over 20 years in remote schools as a teacher, Principal, Guidance Officer, and Senior Guidance Officer. Her research and teaching interests include school guidance and counselling, trauma aware education, and rural and remote education. What type of presenting do you do?
I do different types of presenting which include lecturing, presenting at conferences, and delivering professional learning to educators across different sectors.
What prompted you to attend Michelle’s Persuasive Presentation Skills Masterclass?
Michelle’s masterclass was offered through QUT. My colleagues had told me how powerful and transformative her master class is and they were right!
What did you learn that was helpful?
Michelle’s teaching and strategies have continued to build my skill set in how to present persuasively through understanding the importance of stage craft, keeping the audience perspective as my focus, acknowledging barriers and be clear with solutions. It also reinforced the importance of preparation and practice, and the importance of having effective power point slides.
How has working with Michelle helped you and your career?
There have been many positive outcomes that I have achieved from improving my presentation skills. The standout is I have been able to develop more effective and engaging slides. I have also been able to further refine my online presentation skills.
By following Michelle’s structure in persuasive presenting has made my presentations more impactful.
