Sydney’s ‘Sausage Queen’ taught herself to make sausages from youtube, and since establishing cult brand Chrissy’s Cuts in supermarkets Chrissy has also added restaurateur, brewer, podcaster and business advocate to her portfolio. It’s a surprising development for a career government advisor, but not as surprising as learning that she’s a former vegetarian and teetotaller.
What did Chrissy say after attending Michelle's Persuasive Presentation Skills Masterclass?
“I loved Michelle, her expertise, the opportunities for putting the skills into practice, and the logical formula that was simple to implement.”
What kind of presenting do you do at work?
Depends which work! For the NSW Government I most often present to large committees of cross-government agency representatives, as we work with communities to build the Western Parkland City. In my entrepreneurial life I am increasingly a public speaker on entrepreneurialism, and the “slashie” way of life: having simultaneous, multiple careers.
What prompted you to study with Michelle?
I enjoy public speaking but have always taken a very instinctive approach. From my colleagues’ experiences with Michelle I knew she would teach me a more reliable structure to ensure I could put a coherent point across, without fear of the core message being lost.
How did Michelle’s teaching change your attitude to presenting in business?
Michelle’s structured approach gave me the peace of mind to just start. So often with a big presentation you feel like you’re hovering outside it, unsure where to begin. The good news is that Michelle’s stepped-out process took away all that uncertainty. She has made it perfectly clear where to begin and end! That has freed me up to focus more on content rather than form; the form is all tucked away.
In general, what positive outcomes have you achieved from improving your presentation skills?
Since completing Michelle’s Persuasive Presentation Skills Masterclass I’m now always the first to put my hand up to present. And when Google called and asked me to give a keynote, I confidently said yes! And the feedback from the audience was excellent!
In what specific ways have your presentation skills improved since learning with Michelle?
- My message is now directed and structured.
- I have reduced my reliance on instinct.
- I have greater certainty about how an audience is going to hear and understand my message.
What were your top three take aways from Michelle’s teachings?
- The structure is your safety net, there’s freedom in working to it.
- Just because everyone else (who hasn’t done the training) is using slides with 50 words on them it doesn’t mean you should perpetuate the cycle.
- Just start!
